Hi Reader,
Have you ever had a moment that just stopped you in your tracks?
A couple of weeks ago, I had one of those moments.
I was in the middle of a workout—one I thought I could handle—and it absolutely wrecked me. But instead of feeling discouraged, I walked away with a huge realization: I am not where I need to be to reach a future goal I’ve set.
And that moment was powerful. It forced me to take a long, honest look at where I am right now and what needs to change to get to where I want to be.
The importance of checking yourself.
It’s easy to keep our heads down and push forward, grinding every day without stopping to assess the path we're on. But every so often, you need to pause. Re-evaluate. Adjust. Pivot if necessary.
Sometimes, the goal itself may need tweaking. Other times, it’s your approach. But if you never check in with yourself, you risk running full speed in the wrong direction.
Now, my goal isn’t about lifting heavier, losing weight, or hitting a certain number on the scale. It’s something bigger. And it requires serious endurance—physically and mentally. That one brutal workout showed me that if I want to get there, I need to add more of those into my weekly routine. And more importantly—I need to get better at pushing through the discomfort.
Why am I telling you this?
Because we all need to humble ourselves sometimes. We need to stop pretending we're too busy to check in on our progress, our health, our habits.
Life moves fast. One minute you're 30, then suddenly you’re 50, wondering what happened to all those goals you swore you'd hit. That’s where dreams quietly fade. That’s when people give up. And that’s exactly what we’re trying to avoid.
When it comes to your health, the truth is this:
It’s never too late to start—but the later you start, the harder it gets. Not impossible, but harder. And with every year that passes, your risk of developing chronic conditions—like high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or diabetes—goes up.
That means instead of starting from zero, you're starting from behind. And that climb is steeper.
Here’s a stat that should stop you:
As of 2022, strokes in adults aged 18–44 have increased by nearly 16% since 2011.
Let that sink in. We are not invincible. And this doesn’t just affect you—it impacts everyone who loves you.
So, let’s check ourselves this week.
Can you comfortably do the following, without pain or being wiped out the next day?
- 10 lunges
- 10 squats
- 10 bicep curls (10 lbs each hand)
- 10 overhead presses (10 lbs each hand)
- 10 push-ups (floor, knees, countertop, or wall)
- Walk 7,000 steps without pain or shortness of breath
- Climb 10 stairs
And when it comes to food:
Can you confidently choose healthier options? Do you actually know what "healthy" means—not just what the packaging says? Surprisingly most people don't.
If you can’t say yes to these… it’s time to do something about it.
Let’s get better. Let’s get real. Let’s check ourselves—before we find ourselves too far behind.
Have a fantastic day Reader,
Get That Goal!
