Series 3 of 5: Your Goal Is Calling, But You’re Too Busy Trying to Quit

Hi Reader,

Last week we discussed writing your goals down and changing your environment to help "getting your goals" easier. Did you do that? If you missed the last 2 emails you can review them here.

Here's the thing with goals- have you stopped making them because you seem to never accomplish them, leaving you feeling like a failure?

What if you looked at it in a different way?

Instead of saying "I failed at this so now I'm a failure, nothing ever works out" (take a moment to sulk in your feelings because you are deserving of that) but then get back up and say:

"I tried, I tried something that I wanted to try, something new to me, something I wasn't sure was going to work and found out that wasn't quite right for me."

THEN PIVOT BUT DON'T QUIT

Sit back and reflect on it because most of the time it isn't a failure, it just didn't work out the way or as fast as you thought it should.

Now for the HARD part, the part that most people do NOT do.

Find an accountability partner

Why don't people do this?

Because they don't want to answer to someone when they aren't doing the thing. When they are having a hard time making the thing happen. They don't want to ask for help.

I am very guilty of this one! Ask my friend Jen. She will ask me several times for goals, how they went and the debrief of them. I conveniently ignore it. Because the hard truth hits HARD! Did I make the monthly goal? Did I do the things that required me to hit the monthly goal and if not, how will I pivot for next month.

But I am very appreciative of when she asks because it forces me to remember the goals, evaluate them and reassess if needed.

So this week your "to do" for your Goal Getting is to find someone you trust to hold you accountable for the things you said you were going to do.

Someone you can call, text or whatever when you are feeling frustrated, someone who can help you pivot if needed and someone who will hold you accountable to do the thing even when you don't feel like it.

We are made to have help, have a community of people around us to cheer us on, help us when we can't figure it out, help us to keep moving forward when we don't feel like it. So find that person!!!

Have a great week, Reader. I look forward to hearing how your goal getting is going!

Get That Goal!
